Twitter gets the single character name in App Store
Twitter, now undergoing a rebranding as X, has managed to secure its new single-character name in the iOS App Store, suggesting that Apple may have made an exception to their rule against single-character app names. Interestingly, prior to the rebranding, the app already appeared as X on iPhones and iPads.
This exception could be seen as a possible indication that Apple seeks to maintain a positive relationship with X's owner, Elon Musk. Notably, not too long ago, the former CEO of Twitter accused Apple of threatening to remove the Twitter app from the store. However, after a meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook, Musk clarified that it was simply a "misunderstanding."
In addition to the rebranding, the company has also updated its tagline in the store from "it's what's happening" to "blaze your glory!" — a phrase that Musk tweeted (or rather, posted) this morning.
