Denmark's data centres have quite a small number of people working!

Politicians often express great enthusiasm when tech giants announce plans to build data centres in Denmark. “It’s an apple that has fallen into our lap, and to stick with the Apple theme, we’re on cloud nine,” Torsten Nielsen (K), who was mayor of Viborg Municipality at the time, said when Apple first announced its data centre back in 2015 . He expected 10,000 new jobs to be created in the municipality. This prospect of hundreds—if not thousands—of new jobs is often cited as a huge benefit to society. Among other places, in West Jutland, where Microsoft is planning to build three large data centres. “I am very pleased when large companies as Microsoft choose to make significant investments in Denmark and help create new jobs. I am confident that this new data center region in the municipalities of Esbjerg and Varde can help develop West Denmark and contribute to growth, new jobs and even greater progress,” Stephanie Lose (V), then minister for economic affairs, said in Microsoft’s pre...

Nvidia reports record revenues and profits again!

Nvidia’s founder and CEO Jensen Huang sounded extremely confident during the company’s third-quarter earnings call — and the numbers explain why.

The chipmaker posted $57 billion in revenue this quarter, a massive 62% jump from the same period last year. Net income was even stronger at $32 billion, up 65% year-over-year, far exceeding market expectations.

The surge is being driven almost entirely by Nvidia’s booming data center business, which powers AI computing. That segment alone brought in a record $51.2 billion, rising 25% from the previous quarter and 66% year-over-year. The rest of the company’s revenue came from gaming ($4.2 billion), with smaller contributions from professional visualization and automotive chips.

CFO Colette Kress said that Nvidia’s data center growth is being fueled by the rapid rise of AI — bigger models, more powerful computing, and a wave of AI infrastructure projects. She shared that Nvidia has announced infrastructure totaling around 5 million GPUs just in this quarter.

A big part of that momentum is coming from Blackwell Ultra, Nvidia’s newest GPU line launched earlier this year. It has quickly become the company’s top performer. Jensen Huang went as far as saying that Blackwell chip sales are “off the charts,” and cloud GPUs are sold out.

Not everything was perfect. Nvidia’s H20 data center GPU — aimed at generative AI — saw weaker shipments due to restrictions on selling advanced chips to China. Kress called it “disappointing,” saying large purchase orders didn’t materialize. Nvidia says it will continue engaging with both U.S. and Chinese regulators on the issue.

Still, Nvidia expects more growth ahead, forecasting $65 billion in revenue for the fourth quarter. That outlook immediately boosted its stock price by over 4% in after-hours trading.

Huang dismissed concerns that the AI sector might be overheating.

“There’s been a lot of talk about an AI bubble,” he said. “From our vantage point, we see something very different.”
