Disney Plus and Hulu to get more expensive
Disney is once again adjusting the pricing for its ad-free subscription plans for both Disney Plus and Hulu, effective this coming fall. Starting from October 12th, the monthly cost for Disney Plus will be raised to $13.99, while Hulu's ad-free tier will see an increase to $17.99. The ad-supported levels for both platforms will, at least for the time being, remain at $7.99 per month.
In an effort to offset this price adjustment, Disney is introducing a new combined subscription option that offers ad-free access to both Disney Plus and Hulu for a monthly fee of $19.99. This package will be available from September 6th.
However, the individual subscription price hikes for the standalone services are significant. Approximately a year ago, Disney previously raised the monthly fee for Disney Plus to $10.99, while the cost for ad-free Hulu went up to $14.99. As a result, Disney Plus now costs more than the ad-free version of Warner Bros. Discovery's Max service, which is currently priced at $15.99 per month.
Furthermore, the three-in-one bundle featuring Disney Plus (ad-free), Hulu (ad-free), and ESPN Plus (with ads) will also undergo an increase, now priced at $24.99. Subscribers to Hulu with Live TV and ads will see a monthly cost of $76.99, while the commercial-free version will experience an uptick to $89.99 from its current rate of $82.99.
Disney's streaming offerings have expanded considerably within the US, encompassing various options and tiers. In order to provide clarity on the available choices, the company has included a comprehensive table in a recent press email, including the upcoming "Duo Premium" plan alongside the existing offerings.
