Roku TV now available on Google TV

Beginning today, Google TV and Android TV users will have access to The Roku Channel as a free application.

The Roku Channel has been available on Roku devices for a significant period and has recently emphasized its collection of free content. Roku device owners can enjoy ad-supported streaming of various content, including exclusive Roku originals like "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story," which was released last year.

According to Roku, The Roku Channel offers a wide range of free programming for viewers. With a library that comprises over 80,000 free movies and shows, exclusive Roku Originals such as "WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story," "Die Hart," and "The Great American Baking Show," as well as more than 350 free live linear television channels covering news, sports, entertainment, Spanish language programming, and more, The Roku Channel caters to diverse streaming preferences.

Initially, this extensive library was only accessible on Roku devices, but it has gradually expanded to include web platforms and select competing smart TV platforms like Fire TV and Samsung TVs. Now, The Roku Channel is making its way to Google TV and Android TV.

Through a newly launched Android TV OS app, users can download The Roku Channel from the Google Play Store on devices like Chromecast with Google TV, as well as television sets from brands such as TCL, Hisense, and others. Notably, the app requires no sign-up or subscription, allowing users to dive right into the streaming experience.
